Roasted eggs, better known under the name of “dizef roti” in Mauritius, is a real star of the appetizer time. The eggs are roasted in a mixture of aromatic spices.

This recipe can be executed in a very short time. The roasted eggs are served with a spicy sauce.

Ingredients

soy sauce
10 tablespoons
star anise

Cinnamon stick

red wine
10 tablespoons
Brown sugar
4 tablespoons

  1. Bring the eggs to boil.
  2. In the meantime, in the saucepan, mix all the ingredients: red wine, soy sauce, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, brown sugar, salt.
  3. Once the eggs are boiled, let them cool in cold water.
  4. Once the eggs have completely cooled down, put them into the mixture in the pan.
  5. Leave the eggs to cook on very low heat, stirring them regularly.
  6. The preparation will be ready when the eggs have taken a nice color and are well varnished.
