The french brioche … A pastry we all love! For tea and breakfast, this pastry is very popular and comes from Normandy! This brioche recipe is rather simple and you can accommodate it to your taste, if you want to add chocolate chips or if you want to perfume with orange blossom water… Everything is allowed !

Ingredients

250 grams
baker's yeast
1 packet
Unsalted butter
125 grams

  1. It is advisable to take the butter out of the fridge well before the start of the preparation. Cut the butter into small pieces and place in a bowl for 10 minutes. In another bowl, combine baking powder and warm milk. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine baking powder and warm milk. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  3. In a large salad bowl, pour flour, yeast, salt and eggs. Mix everything until you get a paste. You can knead the dough by hand, or in a robot to make your job easier. Continue for about ten minutes, until the dough does not stick anymore. Add milk if the needed.
  4. Add butter to the dough and continue kneading until the dough has absorbed the butter.
  5. It is then advisable to cover the dough with a cloth and set aside for about 1 hour. Separate the dough by continuing to knead and make into several balls of dough depending on size you want or you can arrange the dough in a square pan. Everything will depend on the desired shape.
  6. Then place the dough balls on baking paper on a tray and place in the oven. Do not forget to brown the buns with egg yolk mixed with milk. Leave in the oven for about 25 minutes.
  7. Once the buns are ready, serve hot or warm, for teatime or breakfast, accompanied by a hot drink such as tea, coffee or juice.
