During the month of January following the Christmas season, it is a tradition to eat a crusty King Pie with your family or friends.During the feast of Epiphany, the 6th of January, the lucky one who finds the “fève” in the pie (which can be a real traditional broad bean, or most commonly nowadays a porcelain figurine or a plastic one) becomes King or Queen. The newly crowned can then choose her King or his Queen. This festival was originally a Roman festival but became a Christian one through times. It now reminds the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child. In any event, this frangipane base King pie recipe is delicious !
