Shortbread are special delights which can be made and enjoyed with family. They can be cut in circle shapes simply with a glass or using cookie cutters that will give them fun, festive shapes (stars, Christmas tree, various animals …).

Ingredients

Metric US
Flour
150 grams
Butter
75 grams
Powdered sugar
75 grams
Salt
1 pinch
Egg
1
egg yolk
1
water
2 teaspoons
vanilla sugar
1 packet
  1. Whisk together flour, sugar, salt, vanilla sugar and softened butter until a sandy mixture is obtained.
  2. Add an egg and mix till you obtain obtain a firm dough. Shape into a ball, cover and leave to chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough to a 1/2 cm (0.25 inch) thickness and cut out into shapes.
  4. Put them on a baking tray covered with parchment paper and coat them with the egg yolk and water mixture.
  5. Oven bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes.
