The montecados or mantecaos come from north Africa but they are also traditional spanish crumble delicacies served during the Christmas holidays.

Ingredients

Metric US
Flour
500 grams
Powdered sugar
200 grams
Sunflower oil
12 centiliters
cinnamon
  1. Mix flour and sugar and add the oil to obtain a stiff dough.
  2. Make small dough balls, arrange them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Make a little cut at the top pf the biscuits.
  3. Bake at 150 °C (300°F) for about 25 to 30 minutes depending on whether you want soft or crunchy cookies.
  4. Sprinkle the montecados with cinnamon.
