  1. To make the batter: Pour the flour into a large bowl. In another bowl, beat the egg roughly. Make a well in the flour and pour the beaten egg. Add a little water and a pinch of salt. Mix until you have a smooth batter. You can add a little baking powder if you want a nice perfect round shape when cooking. (optional)
  2. Preparing the onions : Peel and wash the onions. Cut them into slices on a cutting board. Take the onion slices and and place them on a plate
  3. Breadcrumbs: Pour breadcrumbs into a bowl (which can be prepared by grating stale bread, stale bread, toasted bread or small crackers).
  4. Cooking: Dip the onion slices one by one into the batter mix. One they are well coated, place them immediately in the bread crumbs container. Your onion slices should be well coated with bread crumbs. Arrange each of the coated onion slices in a tray while avoiding to overlap them. Heat oil in a deep fryer and dip the coated onion rings in the hot oil. Cook till brown and remove using a skimmer. Drain the fritters on paper towels, and leave to cool a bit before serving!
  5. Enjoy!
