Sweet crumble was invented in the United Kingdom and its name obviously comes from the verb ‘crumble’. In Canada, it is called a croustade. But this type of dessert covered with a crumbled mixture of flour, butter and sugar has actually existed for a long time in some European countries (Poland, Slovenia etc…).  The salted version has been available for a few years now and can be made with feta cheese, parmesan, gruyère, bacon, bacon, fresh herbs, tomatoes etc…. Wheat flour can be replaced by buckwheat flour.
